Boxcryptor encrypts your files directly on the device, therefore the data is encrypted and secured before it is moved to the storage of your choice.
Boxcryptor is free of charge for personal use. The Boxcryptor Personal license can be used with a maximum of two cloud providers. Team features are not available for this license.
Boxcryptor can connect natively to over 30 cloud providers and to numerous others via the WebDAV interface. You can also encrypt files on a NAS, file servers and local data.
Boxcryptor ensures the confidentiality of information while the cloud provides availability and a backup option — An invincible combination.
Boxcryptor is a German company located in Bavaria. All servers are also located in Germany. The contracted data center is ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified.
Boxcryptor has been audited by the independent security company Kudelski Security. The result: all security objectives are met, and the quality of the software has been verified.
Boxcryptor supports team collaboration using group management for access rights. Data can be securely transmitted to outsiders as well using the Whisply service.
Box is automatically detected as a storage location and added to the Boxcryptor drive. For this to work, please install the desktop application of Box.

Box is one of the go to clouds if you are looking for a cloud for business. However, they also offer 10 GB for free and plans for private users. Protect your Box with Boxcryptor’s end-to-end-encryption, to make it as private and secure as your hard drive at home. Thanks to the zero knowledge standard, no one but you can access your data; not us, not Box, nor any other third party. Only end-to-end encryption and the zero knowledge paradigm can make perfectly sure that your data never falls into the wrong hands.
Seamless Integration with Box
Boxcryptor works with a virtual drive. During installation it will automatically detect all your cloud providers on your machine, and add them to this virtual drive. For your first steps we recommend that you create a new folder in your Box in the Boxcryptor drive and encrypt it. Copy the data you want to encrypt into this folder. Everything you copy into an encrypted folder in the Boxcryptor drive will be encrypted automatically. This is the best part: Boxcryptor handles the encryption and you do not have to do anything. Since our encryption is on the fly, you will not notice it. You can work with your data as you are used to, as if the Boxcryptor drive were any other folder.
