New at Boxcryptor: Fingerprint Protection on Android, Whisply Improvements, and More
We created some new features in the last months and, of course, we do not want to keep them from you. Especially users with fingerprint sensors in their devices and Whisply fans have reasons to be delighted. But there is something new for everybody. Amongst other things, you can now use your fingerprint sensor on Android to unlock Boxcryptor. Whisply has been further improved and we support the new Google Backup and Sync, and OneDrive for Business in Office 365 Germany.
Fingerprint Protection Now on Android as Well
When your device has a fingerprint sensor, we have good news for you. From now on you can unlock your Boxcryptor app with fingerprint on all platforms except Windows. On iOS and macOS we introduced this feature some months ago. Now, Android follows with the latest update. It is simple: When you already activated your fingerprint sensor in the settings of your device, the option will show up in Boxcryptor in Settings –> App Protection. Just activate the slider, and with it fingerprint protection.
Additionally, we made some improvements on Camera Upload on Android, which will be more stable and reliable from now on.
Windows
With the last Boxcryptor for Windows update, Boxcryptor is back in Quick Access of Windows Explorer again. Now you can navigate to your encrypted data in the cloud even quicker and easier. Additionally, we renewed the user interface in Boxcryptor and we simplified the software update process.
Additionally, we are working on implementing OneDrive Files On-Demand on Windows and offer experimental support for now.
macOS
Everybody is eagerly awaiting the official release of macOS High Sierra – us as well, of course. We are already preparing for this release and offer experimental support of macOS High Sierra (10.13). We will officially support the new version at its official release by Apple – the way we keep it with all Apple releases. As always, we really appreciate your feedback if something does not work as it should in the experimental version. We test it ourselves as well, of course, but the more information we have the better we can prepare. So, never hesitate to contact us, if you have feedback or issues.
New on macOS is the support for custom certificate validation, which allows you to use Boxcryptor in networks with SSL interception performed, for example, by anti-virus software or proxy servers. Find more information in our help pages. Additionally, we improved the user interface on macOS.
iOS
In the last months we worked on improvement of performance, namely we improved stability and fault tolerance of working with Boxcryptor files in third party apps, such as Word. Additionally, we are currently working on integrating Boxcryptor into the Files app on iOS 11 and we updated the sign in interface.
Whisply Improvements: Bye-bye File Size Limit
There has been another round of improvements with Whisply. Now, we are not only more secure than most of the competitors, we can even match or exceed their services in terms of file size. You can send files up to 1 GB per session without problems, as many as you want.
Aside From Software: Our New Help Pages
After the relaunch of our website we started another important project: the complete redesign of the Boxcryptor Help Pages. In case you are not sure if you use Boxcryptor at its full potential or if you follow the best practices, you will find all the information you need. Should you experience problems with Boxcryptor, our FAQ and Troubleshooting might help point you in the right direction. Have a look around when you have some time to spare. In case we missed something important, again, we are always happy about feedback.
